Rik Friend hails from Guernsey originally and became interested in osteopathy after studying health sciences, where became intrigued by the scope and depth osteopathy as a treatment approach offers. He subsequently trained at the renowned British School of Osteopathy, London, and graduated in 1999. From there he worked in a variety of practices in the UK before emigrating to New Zealand in 2006. On arrival he worked in Christchurch before moving and setting up a practice in Nelson.
Rik is also trained in massage therapy and has a lifelong interest in positive health care, nutrition, exercise therapy, strength training; along with structural osteopathic training including deep soft tissue and cranio-sacral techniques. He tailors each treatment to suit the needs of the individual.
He lives in Nelson and in his spare time, enjoys getting out rock climbing and tramping, along with mountain biking and the occasional bout of running.
